Let’s start off by looking at the word “chhaa” (छा), meaning “overcast/overshadow”, and see how ‘chh’ connects with ‘alif’:

Above: ‘chh’ + ‘alif’ = “chhaa”

Let’s take this further and look at the word “chhaachh” (छाछ), meaning “buttermilk”:

Above: ‘chh’ + ‘alif’ + ‘chh’ = “chhaachh”

Similarly, here’s the word “chhaap” (छाप), meaning “imprint”:

Above: ‘chh’ + ‘alif’ + ‘pe’ = “chhaap”
