INTRODUCTION

In this unit, we’ll learn about the ‘jiim’ group  (Devanagari: जीम | IPA: /d͡ʒiːm/; Pronunciation:   ). And just like the ‘be’ group, all letters in the ‘jiim’ group share a similar basic-shape as can be seen here.

خ
  • KHe
  • ख़े
ح
  • he
  • हे
چ
  • che
  • चे
ج
  • jiim
  • जीम

Above: Letters in the 'jiim' group. Read  right-to-left ('jiim' comes first)

Letters are, again, differentiated by the number and placement of nuqte. For example, the letters ‘jiim’ and ‘KHe’ have one nuqta each. Yet, they are differentiated by the placement of the nuqta as shown below:

خ
  • KHe
  • ख़े
vs
ج
  • jiim
  • जीम

Above: Placement of the nuqta creates the difference between ‘jiim’ and ‘KHe’

Look at the animation for ‘jiim’ below to understand how these letters are written:
