Taking the word “baa” a step further, let’s look at the word “baabaa”, meaning “father/elderly person”:

Do you see how the second ‘baa’ segment in the word “baabaa” is written?

IMPORTANT

We know that ‘alif’ is a non-connector. Therefore, it does not connect with the second ‘be’ following it.

The second ‘be’ in the word “baabaa” is in the medial position but is not connected to the letter preceding it. Therefore, it assumes its initial-position short-form. Remember this basic, but important rule.

And finally, to make things clearer, here’s a break-down of the word “baabaa”:

Similarly, the English word “paapaa”, meaning “father”:
